Fashion is a funny thing,
Whats in today is old tomorrow, and then in ten years time that style is the hottest in town again.
Animal prints are in !!
Today anyway.
April carries off the feline look with ease and grace, real jungle beauty……..
There are lots of very creative photographers out there that push boundaries all the time.
HDR, Lensbaby, even infra-red images are created.
Me, I stick with what i know..,most of the time.
The other morning whilst walking along the creek, I noticed that the street lights painted these rocks and gave them an unusual hue .
To me it was kinda like light painting…well, sort of………….
Whoops….Sunrise is at 6.00am not 5.00am, and yes I found myself standing near a small lighthouse, freezing cold getting covered in salt spray.
Three pics later I had enough of that location.
The clouds weren’t co-operating, it was too windy and the sky stayed grey.
As I neared home, I noticed that Burleigh Heads was sheltering a small rock pool and the sun was partly hidden by cloud.
Knee deep in still clear water, I was lucky to at least capture a seagull sunrise…..
Burleigh Heads is a remarkable location.
Great surfing on one side, family friendly swimming on the other.
Fishing of all kinds and beautiful walks thru rainforest with remnants of ancient volcanos all around.
Its hard to find a great location to shoot from, but my favourite is along the Eastern edge amongst the basalt pillars and boulders.
Its easy to get up early to catch the Burleigh sunrise……
The outdoor lifestyle here on the Gold Coast is really more of a culture.
The weather (most of the time), the beaches, the warm sea, all combine to persuade locals to be “outdoorsy”.
Kids grow up surfing, swimming, skating and biking, and use the coast as their playground.
Certainly while the owner of this bike was surfing, it was left to become at one with nature.
I have mentioned in earlier posts that the Gold Coast has suffered at the hands of mother nature this year.
High seas and winds have changed the landscape. in some places to an extent that they are barely recognisable.
The little cove near Snapper Rocks is one of these, however foe photographers another layer of beauty has been exposed.
Texture and colour abound, and when dramatic clouds and sunrise combine with these new elements there is a wonderful transformation……
