Jodie – a star

3 Aug

Seize the moment……….

28 Jun

No, I dont really know what I was thinking when I suggested we try this .

The husband to be was keen and I think we accomplished what that icon of fashion, the wonder bra cant.

No ugly straps with this support system, no underwires, and you will always know where your partner is………

Back Alley Beauty………..

24 Jun

Jodie, a talented Cabaret performer was singing in a fashionable and very bohemian cocktail bar/ restaurant this weekend and she invited me to meet her in the back alley……….for some photos, (what went through your mind, people), between sets.

A vastly talented singer/entertainer, Jodie is one of the hard-working people in the entertainment business locally.

Not only does she perform endlessly, but she supports and promote countless other bands and performers.

Cooly Rocks..some of the sights !

13 Jun

Due to the rain and other shoots during the Cooly Rocks Festival, I only got there for an hour or so on a very wet and cold aftrenoon.

However these two shots give an idea about the diversity of style and the tongue in cheek nature of these Rock and Roll, car loving, dance enthusiasts.

Belly Dancing…………..

21 May

Belly dancing seems to be commonplace nowadays.

Perhaps its a new fitness craze, or perhaps the need to fine something creative in a life dominated by reality TV and facebook.

The classically beautiful Tehlia is stunning in her role as a belly dancer

Surprise………

18 May

My wife and I have been together for over 25 years, and yet when evr I walk into the room she still look delighted to see me…

………at least I think that’s how I should interpret this look !

A true genius……

11 May

Over the course of your life, if your lucky, you will meet a handful of people who through hard work and gained experience are really masters of their trade.

I have been lucky enough to meet a few in different professions

the man who taught me to fly gliders, Jimmy Jones, a true gentleman who should have been born with wings,

a good friend Irving, who can really turn his hand to anything and produce incredible results and yet make it seem easy, on top of being always willing to help,

and tonight, I had the privilege to meet and watch Joe McNally  ( www.joemcnally.com ) create beautiful images,

Joe had the mix of enthusiast and professionals laughing, shaking their heads in amazement, laughing, questioning their skills, laughing…you get the picture(pun kinda intended)

A master of light, Joe took the time to explain, in layman’s terms, how to completely stuff up an image and then turn it into a winner.

I was lucky enough to talk to the man for a few minutes and he was just like talking to any other photographer…enthusiastic, friendly and passionate about our art form, not only that he is just a really nice bloke.

Have look at his website and blog, I guarantee you will be caught up by the enthusiasm and  skill.

Odette…Classically beautiful.

I had the pleasure of being asked to photograph a newly formed quartet. These fashionable young women had only just created the group and yet they were already producing incredible music.

They were understandably excited, here they were within days of forming, recording in a professional studio and having a photoshoot.

They took it all in the stride and continued to perform their songs beautifully.

Old Rockers never die…they just bring back memories……..

7 Apr

Last weekend I shot an event at the fantastic Broadwater Gardens, well we were back the again this weekend for the free Easter concert. Not there to work just kick back and enjoy. We had a family day of swimming and eating and swimming and eating..yep, there is a pattern, …….. hey its Easter.

Anyway back to the reason for this post, about thirty years ago, or a bit more perhaps there was a band called…Sherbet, fronted by Daryl Braithwaite, they wowed the teens and had great  success for a while. As bands do they split and Braithwaite started a solo career, and that’s when the depth of this mans talent really emerged. Rock, ballads and feel good songs that appealed across different age groups.

Then as is normal for those soloists that have maybe five or six big hits, he faded away only to be heard occasionally on drive time radio. That is until last night !

The ten thousand or so lucky free concert goers were treated to a display of entertainment rarely seen, even when paying a days wages or more.

He warmed the crowd up with some reminiscing, and then hit us hard with the rock…needless to say the crowd was on its feet and dancing.

A standing ovation had Braithwaite and band return to the stage for a rendition of “Horses”, with the masses joining for a thunderous chorus.

Thanks Daryl and Gold Coast City Council, it was a great way to celebrate our wedding anniversary !

Earth Hour 2012

6 Apr

Last weekend I teamed up with the fantastic talent from Multiplay Entertainment and Foto-Media to shoot images at the Gold Coasts Earth Hour celebration held at the beautiful Broadwater Gardens.

Multiplay provided many of the acts and coordinated the event in conjunction with the Gold Coast City Council.

It was truly a family event with face painting, and acts aimed at the kids.

For the adults there was a variety of talent from fire dancing to Electra Vine and Liam Burrows, a finalist on “Australia’s’ Got Talent”. A nice young man with a talent beyond his years who has requested photos from the night for some promo work.

Earth Hour promotes energy conservation however the acts certainly put massive amount of energy keeping the large crowd entertained.

This is the first of these events held on the Gold Coast and with the reactions of all I spoke to next year will be bigger and much looked forward to.
